Call for posters for the IV Summer School of Catalan Linguistics (EDELC 2024)

EDELC aims at offering training in Catalan linguistics to undergraduate and graduate students, and it is particularly addressed to students enrolled in or connected to foreign universities who have started research on some aspect of Catalan language. The school, though, is open to any student interested in Catalan linguistics.

EDELC 2024 will include tutorials on some specific course topics and a slot for poster presentations by students, which aims at promoting the direct interaction with the specialists present at the school. EDELC, in fact, wants to facilitate collaborations, co-supervision, and the creation of a supportive network in Catalan linguistics studies.

As in past editions, students will have the opportunity to present their work (poster format), with the goal of stimulating direct interaction with the teaching staff present at the school.

Sending poster proposals
Please send the proposal title and abstract together with a short biographical note (one paragraph) by July 7, 2024 to edelc2024@gmail.com. The decision on poster acceptance will be communicated by July 20, 2024. Accepted posters will be presented at EDELC 2024.

As in past editions, a jury appointed by the Organizing Committee will select the best proposal and presentation, to be awarded the Premi Aina Moll (Aina Moll prize). The prize is endowed with 3.000 € and funded by the Government of the Balearic Islands (Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics).

If you want to apply for the Premi Aina Moll, your proposal must be single-authored. If the work is part of a research project or group and has therefore benefited in some way from a collective work, you should specify this on a separate sheet and attach the consent of the IP of the project or group to the poster proposal.

ORIENTATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE POSTERS

The posters should have a size of A1 (594 × 841 mm) in vertical orientation. We recommend hanging the posters early in the day and preparing a 3-5 minute explanation of your work. It is also a good idea to bring a few copies in A4 format for individuals who may be interested in your research (in this case, consider including your email address). If you wish to share audio or video recordings with the attendees, it is advisable to bring your own laptop with headphones.
