Call for courses for the IV Summer School of Catalan Linguistics (EDELC 2024)

EDELC aims at offering training in Catalan linguistics to undergraduate and graduate students, and it is particularly addressed to students enrolled in or connected to foreign universities who have started research on some aspect of Catalan language. The school, though, is open to any student interested in Catalan linguistics. EDELC 2024 will include tutorials on some specific course topics and a slot for poster presentations by students, which aims at promoting the direct interaction with the specialists present at the school. EDELC, in fact, wants to facilitate collaborations, co-supervision, and the creation of a supportive network in Catalan linguistics studies.

With this call, proposals for introductory courses are expected in any area of linguistics among those listed below, either from a descriptive, theoretical-formal, experimental, or interdisciplinary perspective.

  1. Phonetics/phonology
  2. Morphology
  3. Semantics/Pragmatics
  4. Syntax
  5. Lexicology
  6. Sociolinguistics
  7. Historical and Diachronic Linguistics
  8. Acquisition of Catalan as a first language or additional language

Proposals must be individual, and it is a requisite that applicants have the degree of doctor in a specialty related to (Catalan) linguistics. Furthermore, each candidate can only submit a single proposal, and proposals for courses already given in previous editions will not be accepted.

Teachers giving a course will be gratified, and their travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.
